Newspringtime Summer School 2021
Creating Missionary Parishes
In Evangelli Gaudium, Pope Francis spoke in pars 25-33 about the need for structural conversion in parishes in order to make them missionary in orientation. In 2020 the Congregation of the Clergy, issued a document which spelt out some of the implications of the Pope’s thinking about the creation of missionary parishes.
This Summer School, which will be conducted online, is designed to help members of the clergy together with interested lay people, especially those who are on parish councils, to hear the latest thinking on this subject. We will have four speakers:
-
- Dr. Gareth Leshon, a priest of the Cardiff Diocese, currently working with the Sion Catholic Community for Evangelism, in Brentwood, London
- Dr. Billy Swan, author of two recent books, is currently based at St Aidan’s Cathedral, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, in the diocese of Ferns
- Dr Maria Heath, who is the current chairperson of the National Service Committee of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in England. Her doctoral studies were on the subject of evangelisation in and by the parish
- Pat Collins CM, a founder member of the New Springtime Community and author of a number of books on evangelisation.
