Jesus gave us the great commission to evangelise, yet often there is little response. St Paul teaches that the god of this age blinds minds (2 Cor 4:4) and that our warfare is not of the flesh but has divine power to destroy strongholds (2 Cor 10:3–5). We engage in spiritual warfare as Jesus overcomes evil and pours out anointing on those who praise him.
-
We begin by repenting sins against unity within and between the churches, turning from attitudes that disrupt union of mind and heart. St Paul urges unity so that with one heart and mouth we may glorify God (Rom 15:5–6). In Phil 2:1–4 he calls us to humility, like‑mindedness, and concern for others. Let us seek forgiveness for offences against loving unity.
-
Led by Spiritual Revival Ministry, we enter prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. The festal shout of victory proclaims that Jesus is tearing down strongholds that hinder evangelisation. Scripture shows its liberating power—from Palm Sunday’s hosanna cry to Christ’s triumph over powers and authorities (Col 2:15). Loud, joyful praise, with hymns, instruments, and prophetic words, affirms God’s victory over all resistance.
-
We express it in loud hymns. Whether praise is expressed in our native language or in tongues, it should be enthusiastic and accompanied, if needs be, by such things as the shaking of tambourines, the banging of drums and bodhrans (Irish hand drums), the clanging of symbols, blowing of whistles and the clapping of hands. These can be accompanied by the waving of flags and dancing. As Ps 150:3-5 says, “Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise his with the harp and lyre, praise him with the tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals.”
The festal shout of victory can have a prophetic dimension. Those who are praising God are encouraged to hear and share God’s revealed word. Those who are present can be invited to share any word of revelation they have received by means of a relevant scripture text, a meaningful image, vision, mental message, word of knowledge or prophetic words.
-
Jesus warns in Matt 12:43–45 that an unclean spirit can return with greater force if a house is left empty. Therefore, when evil spirits are commanded to depart, we also call down God’s transforming Holy Spirit for peace and revival. With Ps 80:18–19 we pray, “Revive us… Restore us, O Lord God Almighty; make your face shine upon us.”
-
While one can often see the positive effects of the festal shout when we affirm God’ victory over the powers of darkness in our lives. We walk by faith not by sight. But we can take refuge in what we read in Lk 10:17- The seventy-two returned with joy and said “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name”. He replied “I saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”
Having praised God on high ground, we descend to the lower places where people live, in order to proclaim the Gospel of salvation with conviction and effectiveness.
"Happy are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O Lord, in the light of your countenance," Ps 89:15
“Come into his presence with songs of joy!”
Ps 100 (99): 2
