The Discipline of unceasing prayer

St Paul’s call to ascetic discipline trains us for a lasting crown, not fleeting honour. Distractions—memories, future fears, negative images of God—hinder prayer. Desolation, guilt, and temptation tempt us to quit. Yet unceasing prayer—liturgy of the heart—embodies loving communion with God, and through it, active service to neighbour follows.
