Jesus and the Jewish roots of prayer

Jesus participated in the fixed order of Jewish prayer, reciting the Shema, Berakah and Kaddish, and praying at set times each day. He taught the importance of praying in secret, using short and sincere prayers, and never giving up. Every line of the Lord’s Prayer echoes Jewish prayers of the first century.
